The TUSIAD Washington Representative Office Marks 15 Years in Washington
The TUSIAD Board of Directors and nearly 50 TUSIAD members marked the 15th anniversary of the Washington Representative Office on October 10 – 11. The establishment of a representative office in Washington 15 years ago reflects the Turkish business world’s appreciation of the importance of the bilateral relationship and has demonstrated the recognition of the potential for greater economic and political ties between Turkey and the United States.

Below you can find the full text (see also”U.S.-Turkey Partnership“): Fact Sheet: U.S.-Turkey Economic Partnership In April 2009, President Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan agreed to elevate U.S.-Turkish bilateral economic relations to a strategic level commensurate with our historically close political-military ties. In the last four years, U.S.-Turkish commercial relations have touched new highs; bilateral trade reached record levels of nearly $20 billion in 2011, with U.S. FDI in Turkey of over $5 billion and Turkish FDI in the United States of nearly $1 billion.
U.S.–Turkey Smart Grid Workshop: Partnering to Power the Future
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) sponsored a two-day workshop February 12-13, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey to foster U.S. – Turkey partnerships for state-of-the-art electricity transmission and distribution projects throughout Turkey. The event highlighted smart grid projects and initiatives, U.S. smart grid technologies, and the regulatory frameworks, standards, and financing mechanisms available to support them. Participating delegates represented public and private sector stakeholders responsible for the future development of the Turkish power sector, allowing for U.S. companies providing equipment and services to the power sector to learn about upcoming opportunities in Turkey and connect with the senior decision makers.
