Barış Ornarlı is Washington Representative of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD).

Mr. Ornarlı’s professional experience has focused on bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States. Prior to being appointed to his current position, Mr. Ornarlı worked as a correspondent for the Turkish Service of the Voice of America (VOA). He was the anchor of a television news and public policy program broadcast live from studios in Washington, D.C. to audiences nation-wide in Turkey. Mr. Ornarlı also worked as a researcher for the Turkey Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., where he conducted in-depth research and analysis on U.S.-Turkey relations and Turkish foreign policy.

He is author of “The Diary of Ambassador Joseph Grew and the Groundwork for the U.S.-Turkey Relationship,” first published in March 2022 by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

Barış Ornarlı received his M.A. and B.S. in International Affairs from Florida State University.

 

Ipek Harris, Research Assistant

Ipek Harris specializes in the political economy of innovation and development. She holds an M.Sc. in Political Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University and a B.A. in Economics from Boğaziçi University. Her interests include the dynamics of innovation-led development in emerging and advanced economies, with particular emphasis on science and technology policy in high- and medium-tech industries. Ipek joined TÜSİAD’s Washington, D.C. office in September 2025.
