Welcome

1927 is a news and analysis blog on U.S. – Turkey relations curated by the Washington Representative Office of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD).

The Washington Representative Office is charged with developing and deepening the U.S.–Turkey relationship and strengthening mutual interaction.

Why 1927? U.S. diplomatic interaction with Turkey dates back to the

1800’s and the Ottoman Empire.  However relations were severed in 1917 when the United States declared war on Germany. Following the establishment of the modern

Republic of Turkey, Ankara and Washington re-established diplomatic relations on February 17, 1927.

We look forward to your contributions and input.
