In response to the October 3 attacks made by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization against a Turkish military outpost, TUSIAD has issued the following press release:

"As TUSIAD, we are deeply sorry for the loss of the lives of 15 members of the Turkish Armed Forces due to the terrorist attack in Semdinli, Hakkari.

This attack targeted the peace and stability in Turkey. We should not forget that the main aim of the terrorist organization is to create social polarization and increase mutual hatred by creating a reign of fear. We are certain that the people of Turkey will unite against such provocations and act with common consciousness and reason in order to prevent terrorism from reaching its objective.

On this very occasion, we would like to stress the need for an enhanced coordination between the US Administration, Turkish Government and the Iraqi authorities to stop insurgents from using northern Iraq as a base for their attacks on Turkey.

We condemn the attack and give our condolences to those families who lost their loved ones in the attack."
